Caterham for newby

Posting on behalf of a chum who has succumbed to owning a Caterham.


Wanted: Clean, honest, decent, well specified Caterham, suitable to 1st time owner. Will be used for the majority of the time on the roads with occasional track days. Cycle wings, full weather gear (this is Scotland you know), comfy seats. Also used for commuting (15 miles..)

Not too worried about the engine but would like 130 - 150 bhp, would like a Dedion or Ford live axle, 5 speed box with long 1st. LSD desirable.

Budget wise we are looking at around £8k, but it depends upon the car.

He is based up near Glasgow so arranging test drives/viewing will be a bit of a problem.

Any one know of a good car going for this sort of Money ?

To be frank, Jon... He'll be doing VERY well to get a Caterham that matches his wishlist at that price! If he can't go to £10k++ he should be looking at Westies, he'd get a lot more bang for his buck.

Tend to agree with Jason. But no harm in asking/trying. Have you looked in the obvious places ie pistonheads. You could always put a post on Blatchat.
